In accordance with the provision enshrined under Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) hereby declares the result of the Bye-Election to fill the vacant post in the Local Government.
Kuenzang Choden, holdingCID No. 11702000849, hailing from Nabi Chiwog has been successfully elected as the Gup of Korphu Gewog under Trongsa Dzongkhag, with the poll day held on February 25, 2025.
The overall voter turnout detail is as follows:
Of the 1192 registered eligible voters (M= 587 & F= 605), 806 cast their votes on the poll day (EVM: 583 & Postal Ballot: 223) achieving an overall voter turnout of 67.6%.
Details of the result is available on the Election Commission’s web page: www.ecb.bt. It is also hereby being notified that as per Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the member elected shall only serve for the remainder of his/her predecessor’s term of office.
The public and all stakeholders may note that the Election Petition Period of 10 days for this Bye-Election starts today and ends at 5 p.m. on March 7, 2025.
